Malacañang suspends gov't work, classes in NCR, other areas due to Habagat
Malacañang suspended work in government offices and classes at all levels in public and private schools in Metro Manila and nearby provinces on Thursday afternoon, amid the effects of the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.
Based on Memorandum Circular No. 125, government work and classes are suspended in the following areas on August 13, 2026, at 3 p.m.:
- National Capital Region
- Zambales
- Bataan
- Bulacan
- Pampanga
- Tarlac
- Nueva Ecija
- Cavite
- Batangas
- Rizal
- Laguna
- Quezon
This was upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) due to the continuous heavy rainfall associated with the Habagat.
Agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness or response to disasters, and other vital services, are meanwhile, directed to continue their operations and render the necessary services.
Localized cancellation or suspension of classes and/or work in government offices may also be implemented by respective local chief executives.
The suspension of work for private companies and offices was also left to the discretion of their respective heads.
