Senate shortens work hours due to Habagat

The Senate on Monday, August 17, cut short its working hours due to the effects of the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.

In an advisory signed by Senate Secretary Renato Bantug Jr., Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian authorized employees to leave office beginning 4 p.m.

This was in view of Memorandum Circular No. 127 issued by the Malacañang and the red rainfall warning issued for Metro Manila due to the Habagat.

Earlier on Monday, Malacañang issued a circular directing government offices to shift to appropriate work arrangements in the National Capital Region and other provinces beginning at 12 noon.

Memorandum Circular No. 127 also covers government offices and schools in the following areas:

  • Zambales
  • Bataan
  • Bulacan
  • Pampanga
  • Tarlac
  • Nueva Ecija
  • Cavite
  • Batangas
  • Rizal
  • Laguna
  • Quezon
  • Occidental Mindoro
