OCTA: 65% of adult Filipinos trust PNP

The trust and performance ratings of the Philippine National Police (PNP) had an uptick in the second quarter of the year, based on a non-commissioned survey of OCTA Research.

The survey, conducted from July 4 to 11, 2026, showed that two in three adult Filipinos or 65% trust the PNP, slightly higher than the 63% recorded in March 2026.

Thirteen percent, meanwhile, said they distrust the PNP, while 23% remained undecided, for a net trust rating of +52.

Trust was recorded the highest in the Visayas (70%), followed by the Balance Luzon (69%), and Mindanao (67%). The PNP’s trust rating was only at 40% in the National Capital Region (NCR).

By socioeconomic class, trust was highest among Class E (72%) and Class ABC (71%), with Class D slightly lower at 62%. Class ABC, meanwhile, had the highest distrust at 16%.

When it comes to PNP’s performance, 63% expressed satisfaction– also an increase from 61% in the first quarter of the year.

Satisfaction was highest in the Visayas and Mindanao, both at 67%, as well as Mindanao at 65% in Balance Luzon. It, however, dropped to 43% in the NCR, which also saw the highest dissatisfaction at 38%.

By socioeconomic class, satisfaction was also highest among Class E at 69%, and lowest among Class ABC at 59%.

The survey used face-to-face interviews with 1,200 respondents aged 18 and above. It has a ±3% margin of error at a 95% confidence level, and a ± 6% error margin at 95% confidence level specifically for Metro Manila, the Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. —RF, GMA News
