89-year-old woman killed in Sara, Iloilo fire 

An 89-year-old woman was killed after being trapped inside a burning house in Sara, Iloilo. 

According to a report in “Saksi” on Wednesday, the fire razed five houses in the town.

The Bureau of Fire Protection's investigation showed that the fire started in one of the houses after a mosquito coil fell, and no one noticed it was still lit.  

The elderly victim’s sibling tried to evacuate her, but she reportedly refused to leave. 

The sibling also suffered burns and wounds from the fire. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/LDF, GMA News
