Palace declares special non-working day in 5 areas

Malacañang has declared special non-working days in five other localities this May and June to allow residents to celebrate their hometown's founding anniversaries, fiestas, and other cultural events.

Under Proclamation 1244, May 15 was set as a special non-working day in Lazi, Siquijor for its annual fiesta.

Proclamation 1247, meanwhile, designated May 16 as a special non-working day in the municipality of Ilog in Negros Occidential to commemorate its founding anniversary.

Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay will also have a special non-working day on May 18 by virtue of Proclamation 1243.

The Palace also declared June 18 as a special non-working day in Patnanungan, Quezon, through Proclamation 1246, for the celebration of its founding anniversary.

Proclamation 1245 likewise placed Jimenez, Misamis Occidental on a special non-working day on June 24 for its fiesta.

In issuing the proclamations, Malacañang said it is fitting and proper for the residents to be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion in their respective localities and enjoy the celebration which promotes cultural heritage, and fosters community identity and unity.

Proclamations 1243, 1244, 1245, and 1246 were signed by Acting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, by the authority of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., in Manila on May 12.

Proclamation 1247, meanwhile, was signed on May 14. — VDV, GMA News
