A minor strombolian activity was observed at the crater of Mayon Volcano two times on Thursday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

There was also lava effusion with collapse-fed pyroclastic density currents (PDCs) observed on the Bonga Gully at around 9:48 p.m.

The strombolian activities occurred at 8:41 p.m. and again at 9:58 p.m.

"Effusive eruption at Mayon continues for the 136th consecutive day, generating incandescent lava flows, pyroclastic density currents (PDC) or “uson”, and rockfalls," the PHIVOLCS also said.

The agency maintains that Alert Level 3 prevails over Mayon and entry into the 6-km Permanent Danger Zone must still be prohibited. — BAP, GMA News
