Ash emission from the summit crater of Kanlaon Volcano was observed Friday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

The emission occurred at 4:01 p.m., PHIVOLCS said.

"This event generated grayish plumes that rose 200 meters above the crater before drifting southwest, as captured by the IP camera at the Kanlaon Volcano Observatory-Canlaon City (KVO-CC)," the agency added.

On Friday, six volcanic earthquakes were recorded, including one volcanic tremor that lasted for six minutes.

A 300-meter plume that moved southwestward was also recorded as well as ground formation.

PHIVOLCS said Alert Level 2 remains in effect over Kanlaon Volcano. — BAP, GMA News
