Kanlaon Volcano on Negros Island spewed ash anew on Sunday evening, sending ash plumes that rose 1,200 meters into the sky.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) shared time lapse footage of the ash emission recorded from 6:28 p.m. to 6:55 p.m. of April 26.
“This event generated plumes that rose 1200 meters above the crater before drifting southwest, as captured by the camera at the Kanlaon Volcano Observatory-Canlaon City,” PHIVOLCS said in social media posts.
State volcanologists also observed ash emissions from the volcano on Saturday morning and late Friday afternoon.
PHIVOLCS reiterated that Alert Level 2 – or a moderate level of volcanic unrest – remains in effect over Kanlaon Volcano. — JMA, GMA News
