A minor phreatomagmatic eruption was recorded at the Taal Volcano on Tuesday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.

PHIVOLCS said the eruption occurred at 2:29 p.m. and lasted three minutes.

"The event produced jets of ash and steam-rich plumes that rose 2000 meters above the crater before drifting to the southeast," the agency said.

Alert Level 1 remains in effect over Taal Volcano, indicating low volcanic unrest.

Under Alert Level 1, entry into the Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) remains strictly prohibited. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/LDF, GMA News
