RAINFALL ALERT: Red in Metro Manila, Tarlac, Rizal, 6 other areas (Saturday, 5 p.m.)

Due to continuous heavy rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), a red rainfall warning remained in effect over Metro Manila, Tarlac, Rizal, and six other areas in Luzon as of Saturday afternoon.

PAGASA raised red, orange, and yellow rainfall warnings over the following areas in its 5 p.m. advisory:

Red rainfall warning (Serious flooding in flood-prone areas)

• Zambales
• Tarlac
• Pampanga
• Bataan
• Bulacan
• Metro Manila
• Rizal
• Cavite
• Batangas (Nasugbu, Lian, Tuy, Balayan, Calatagan)

Orange rainfall warning (Flooding is still threatening)

• Nueva Ecija
• Laguna
• Batangas (Agoncillo, Alitagtag, Balete, Batangas City, Bauan, Calaca, Tanauan, Cuenca, Ibaan, Laurel, Lemery, Lipa, Mabini, Malvar, Mataasnakahoy, San Jose, San Luis, San Nicolas, San Pascual, Santa Teresita, Santo Tomas, Taal, Talisay, Tingloy)

Yellow rainfall warning (Flooding in flood-prone areas)

• Quezon (San Antonio, Candelaria, Dolores, Sariaya, Tiaong, General Nakar, Tayabas, Infanta, Lucban, Lucena, Mauban, Pagbilao, Real, Sampaloc, Burdeos, Panukulan, Polillo)
• Batangas (Rosario, Padre Garcia, San Juan, Taysan, Lobo)

PAGASA said light to moderate rains with occasional heavy downpours affecting Quezon (Agdangan, Alabat, Atimonan, Buenavista, Calauag, Catanauan, General Luna, Guinayangan, Gumaca, Lopez, Macalelon, Mulanay, Padre Burgos, Perez, Pitogo, Plaridel, Quezon, San Andres, San Francisco, San Narciso, Tagkawayan, Unisan, Patnanungan, and Jomalig) may persist for three hours.

The state weather bureau advised the public and concerned Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices to continue monitoring weather conditions and watch for the next rainfall warning, which is expected to be issued at 8 p.m. —VBL, GMA News
