Malacañang shifts gov't work, classes in 15 provinces to alternative mode on Sept. 1, 2026
Malacañang has issued a memorandum circular ordering government work and classes in 15 provinces in Luzon to shift to alternative arrangements on Tuesday, September 1, due to the continued heavy rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat.
Memorandum Circular No. 133 covers the following areas:
- Ilocos Norte
- Ilocos Sur
- La Union
- Pangasinan
- Abra
- Benguet
- Kalinga
- Mountain Province
- Apayao
- Batanes
- Nueva Vizcaya
- Zambales
- Tarlac
- Pampanga
- Bataan
However, agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other vital services shall continue their operations and render the necessary services, the circular read.
The suspension of work or the adoption of alternative work arrangements in the private sector shall be left to management's discretion.
