PAGASA: ITCZ to bring rains, thunderstorms over parts of PH
The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is expected to bring rains and thunderstorms over parts of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao on Monday, October 12, the state weather bureau PAGASA said Sunday.
In its 4 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the ITCZ would bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Mindanao, the Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, the Negros Island Region, Central Visayas and Southern Leyte.
The rest of the Visayas is expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the ITCZ.
Meanwhile, the easterlies are expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan and the rest of Cagayan Valley.
Localized thunderstorms may also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, over the rest of Luzon.
PAGASA also forecast cloudy skies with rains over Batanes due to northeasterly winds.
As of 3 p.m. Sunday, two tropical cyclones were being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Typhoon Koguma was located 2,705 kilometers east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 215 kph.
A tropical depression was also spotted 3,120 kilometers east of Central Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph and gusts of up to 70 kph.
Moderate winds and moderate to rough seas are expected over Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon, with wave heights ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 meters.
The rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.8 meters.
At the PAGASA Science Garden weather station in Diliman, Quezon City, the highest temperature recorded on Sunday was 29.1 degrees Celsius at 11 a.m., while the lowest was 25.7 degrees Celsius at 5 a.m.
