Cloudy skies and rains are expected to persist in several areas in the country in the next 24 hours due to localized thunderstorms, PAGASA said Thursday afternoon.

According to its 4 p.m. weather forecast, the state weather bureau said Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned that the severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods or landslides.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said the low pressure area, formerly Tropical Depression Caloy, inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility is “unlikely” to redevelop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

At 3 p.m. it was located 995 kilometers east of Southeastern Luzon.

State meteorologists also said winds will be light to moderate, while coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the country.
