The trough of Tropical Storm Jangmi, which is being monitored outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), is forecast to dampen parts of Mindanao on Friday, the state weather bureau PAGASA said.

According to its 24-hour weather forecast issued at 4 p.m. on Thursday, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, SOCCSKSARGEN, BARMM, and Palawan due to the southwesterly windflow.

Likewise, the rest of Mindanao might experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the trough of the tropical storm.

Further, the localized thunderstorms might bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to heavy rains or severe thunderstorms in the said areas.

As of 3 p.m., Tropical Storm Jangmi was monitored 1,235 kilometers east of southeastern Luzon. It has maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers near the center, and gustiness of up to 90 kilometers per hour.

The storm is moving north northwestward slowly, said PAGASA.

The maximum temperature recorded, based on data from the PAGASA Weather Station in Science Garden, Diliman, Quezon City, was 35.3°C at 2 p.m., while the minimum was 27.0°C at 5:30 a.m.
