Typhoon Bavi enters PAGASA monitoring domain

Typhoon Bavi has entered PAGASA's monitoring domain as two weather systems continue to affect the country, the state weather bureau said Friday.

As of 3 p.m., Bavi was located 3,190 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, packing maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour (km/h) and gusts of up to 185 km/h. It was moving westward at 20 km/h.

PAGASA earlier said Bavi, which could intensify into a super typhoon, is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility by the middle of next week.

Meanwhile, the easterlies will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Aurora, and Quezon.

The rest of the country will experience similar weather conditions due to localized thunderstorms.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters are expected nationwide. Wave heights will range from 0.6 to 1.8 meters across Luzon and from 0.6 to 1.2 meters in the Visayas and Mindanao.

Sunrise in Metro Manila on Saturday will be at 5:31 a.m. — Lyjah Tiffany Bonzo/VBL, GMA News
