Potential super typhoon may enter PAR next week, enhance Habagat — PAGASA
A tropical storm outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) could enter the country's monitoring area by the middle of next week and may intensify into a typhoon or even a super typhoon, PAGASA said Thursday.
PAGASA weather specialist Leanne Loreto said the latest tropical cyclone threat potential forecast indicates that the weather disturbance could enter the PAR by Wednesday, July 8, or Thursday, July 9. Once inside the PAR, it will be given the local name Inday.
However, Loreto said there remains a high level of uncertainty regarding the cyclone's projected track.
"Base sa ating latest na model guidance nakikita natin na ito ay lilihis lamang ng ating north Philippine Sea although mataas pa po ang uncertainty o hindi kasiguraduhan na magiging scenario ito ng bagong bagyo," she said during PAGASA's 5 a.m. weather report.
(Based on our latest model guidance, the tropical cyclone is expected to track over the northern Philippine Sea. However, there remains a high degree of uncertainty, and it is still not certain that this will be its eventual track.)
Loreto said the cyclone is expected to enhance the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), bringing rains to the western sections of the country from the middle of next week through the weekend.
