Tropical cyclone intensifies into Super Typhoon Bavi — PAGASA

The tropical cyclone with international name Bavi has rapidly intensified and is now classified as a super typhoon, PAGASA reported.

As of 8 p.m., the weather bureau said the tropical cyclone is being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Typhoon Bavi has entered PAGASA's monitoring domain as two weather systems continue to affect the country, the state weather bureau said Friday.

As of 3 p.m., Bavi was located 3,190 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, packing maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour (km/h) and gusts of up to 185 km/h. It was moving westward at 20 km/h. — BAP, GMA News
