Habagat to bring cloudy skies, rains over parts of Visayas, Mindanao

Super Typhoon Inday is within the Philippine Area of Responsibility but it is the southwest monsoon (Habagat) that will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over parts of the Visayas and Mindanao, PAGASA reported.

As of 3 a.m. the center of the eye of Super Typhoon Inday was located at 1,420 kilometers east of Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 230 km/h and moving westward at 25 km/h.

Forecast Weather Conditions

Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Lanao del Norte, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and South Cotabato will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon while flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Palawan, the rest of Visayas, and the rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon with the possibility that flash floods or landslides will occur during severe thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms while flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

Forecast Wind and Coastal Water Conditions

The wind sped forecast for the eastern section of Luzon is moderate to strong and moving northeast to northwest while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

The eastern section of Visayas will experience moderate to strong wind speed moving in the west to southwest direction with moderate to rough coastal waters.

The wind speed forecast for Mindanao is moderate to strong and moving southwestward while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

Palawan and the rest of Visayas will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the west to southwest direction with slight to moderate coastal waters.

The rest of Luzon will have light to moderate wind speed moving in the northwest to west direction with slight to moderate coastal waters.
