Trough of Kiyapo, habagat to bring cloudy skies, rain over Southern Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao

The trough of Tropical Depression Kiyapo and habagat will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain over parts of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao on Thursday, PAGASA reported.

At 3 a.m., the center of Tropical Depression Kiyapo was estimated at 960 kilometers east of Central Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 55 km/h and moving west northwestward at the speed of 20 km/h.

Forecast Weather Conditions

Mindanao, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon while flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and Romblon will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Trough of Kiyapo while flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms while flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

Forecast Wind and Coastal Water Conditions

The wind speed forecast for Mindanao and Palawan is light to moderate moving in the west to southwest direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

Visayas and the rest of Southern Luzon will have light to moderate wind speed moving in the northwest to west direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

The rest of Luzon will have light to moderate wind speed moving in the northeast to north direction with slight to moderate coastal waters.
