Signal No. 1 still up over parts of Northern, Central Luzon amid Tropical Depression Luis

Wind Signal No. 1 remained in effect over several areas in Northern and Central Luzon as Tropical Depression Luis maintained its strength as it moved north northwestward over the sea east of Isabela, PAGASA said in its 2 p.m. bulletin Monday.

As of 1 p.m., Luis was estimated over the coastal waters of Palanan, Isabela, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gusts up to 60 kph.

Due to the tropical depression, Wind Signal No. 1 has been raised over the following areas in Luzon:

Eastern and southern portions of Apayao

PAGASA advised all areas flagged with wind threat to be on alert for possible minimal to minor impacts from strong winds.

The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat and the periphery of Luis are expected to bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas on August 3 and 4:

• Most of Luzon and Visayas
• Zamboanga del Norte
• Lanao del Norte
• Misamis Occidental
• Camiguin
• Surigao del Norte
• Dinagat Islands
• Sarangani
• Davao Occidental
• Davao Oriental
