Another LPA likely to develop into tropical cyclone as Luis dissipates

The remnants of Tropical Depression Luis have dissipated, but another low pressure area (LPA) could develop into a tropical cyclone, PAGASA said Tuesday afternoon.

PAGASA said the LPA, located 180 kilometers west of Bacnotan, La Union as of 2 p.m. Wednesday, has a high chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. If it intensifies into a tropical cyclone, it will be assigned the local name Maymay.

Meanwhile, Typhoon Dolpin was spotted 2,115 km east northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon, or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

The LPA is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon.

The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Antique, Iloilo, and Guimaras.

The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over Northern and Central Luzon.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate, with slight to moderate coastal waters.
