Rains, cloudy skies expected in Luzon due to Habagat—PAGASA

The Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat, is expected to affect weather conditions across Luzon on Aug. 24, 2026, the state weather bureau PAGASA said Sunday.

In its 4 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the Habagat will bring occasional rains over Batanes.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, the rest of Cagayan Valley, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas and Occidental Mindoro.

Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon is expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Localized thunderstorms are forecast in the rest of the country, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

As of 3 p.m., three tropical cyclones were being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Typhoon Saudel was last located 1,950 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 165 kph and gusts of up to 205 kph.

Tropical Depression Gaeneri (formerly Neneng) was estimated at 520 kilometers north of Itbayat, Batanes, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph and gusts of up to 70 kph.

Meanwhile, another tropical depression was located 1,265 kilometers east of Southeastern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph and gusts of up to 70 kph.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters are expected in the northern and western sections of Luzon, with waves ranging from 1.5 meters to 3.4 meters.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters are forecast in the rest of the country, with waves ranging from 0.6 meter to 2.1 meters.

At the PAGASA Science Garden weather station in Diliman, Quezon City, the highest temperature recorded on Sunday reached 31.5 degrees Celsius at 2 p.m., while the lowest was 28.1 degrees Celsius at 5 a.m.
