Christopher de Leon donates blood plasma to help other COVID-19 patients

Christopher de Leon has donated his blood to help hospitals treat coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients in critical condition.

In an Instagram post, his wife Sandy Andolong shared a photo of the actor with the St. Luke's Global medical staff while his blood was being collected.

Christopher was the first celebrity in the Philippines to announce that he tested positive for COVID-19.

He was cleared of the disease three weeks after his discharge from the hospital.

In the absence of medicine specific for COVID-19, the Philippine General Hospital is attempting to use the convalescent plasma transfusion to treat severe cases.

With this procedure, COVID-19 patients are infused with plasma from the blood of a COVID-19 survivor to help fight the virus.
