Gary Bejino finishes last in men's backstroke heats to conclude Tokyo campaign

Gary Bejino finished dead last in the men's 100m backstroke — his fourth and final event — to wrap up his maiden campaign at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics on Friday.

Bejino clocked 1 minute and 28.87 seconds to wind up at the seventh spot in Heat 2, and last among 20 swimmers in the overall rankings after three heats. He was 14.72 seconds behind top finisher Jia Hongguang of China.

Only the best eight swimmers across all heats will clinch a spot in the final round slated for later in the afternoon.

This is Bejino's last event in Tokyo after having seen action in the 400m freestyle, 200m Individual Medley, and 50m Butterfly, all of which he fell short of advancing to the final round. —JCB, GMA News
