The Philippines has been under quarantine for six months now. That means most people have been staying mostly at home for half a year to stay safe against COVID-19.
On June 1, many places in the country have transitioned to general community quarantine or GCQ, which is less stringent than the enhanced community quarantine or ECQ that was implemented on March 15.
Metro Manila and many other provinces have remained under GCQ since June 1, and restrictions have been gradually eased to revive the economy and to jumpstart tourism activities in the country such as staycations.
Other popular tourist destinations like Boracay and Palawan have also started welcoming visitors back as they begin the road to slow recovery from the economic effects of the pandemic.
But of course, the pandemic is not yet over, so strict safety protocols are implemented in order to ensure safe travels for local tourists.
