Tinanggihan ng Timor-Leste ang aplikasyon na political asylum ni suspended Negros Oriental Representative Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves. Kasabay nito, binibigyan siya ng naturang bansa ng limang araw para umalis, ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
Ayon sa DFA, nakatanggap sila ng impormasyon mula sa Philippine Embassy sa Timor-Leste na nasa Dili si Teves kung saan siya nagsumite ng aplikasyon para sa political asylum.
“Today, the Ministry of Interior of Timor-Leste confirmed that Representative Teves' application for political asylum has been denied,” ayon sa DFA.
“In accordance with the decision of the Timor-Leste Government, Representative Teves has been granted a period of five days to depart Timor-Leste. During this time, he also has the option to file an appeal regarding the decision,” dagdag nito.
Idinadawit si Teves sa pagpatay kay Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo, at walong iba pa. Itinanggi naman ng kongresista ang paratang.—FRJ, GMA Integrated News
