Sinabi ng Department of Migrant Workers nitong Biyernes na pinakawalan na ang walong Filipino seafarers na nakulong sa Malaysia dahil sa paglabag sa Immigration laws sa naturang bansa.
Ang walong Pinoy ay mga crew ng MT Krishna 1 na nadetine sa isang police station sa Kota Tinggi, Malaysia.
“Following yesterday’s welfare visit and today’s decision of the Prosecutor’s Office in Johor, the eight Filipino crew members of vessel MT Krishna 1 detained in Kota Tinggi have been released today, 18 April 2025,” saad sa inilabas na pahayag ng DMW nitong Biyernes.
Inaasikaso na umano ng DMW at Migrant Workers Office at Overseas Workers Welfare Administration sa Kuala Lumpur ang repatriation ng walo upang makauwi na sa Pilipinas.
Nakipag-ugnayan din ang DMW sa pamilya ng mga tripulanteng Pinoy upang ipaalam na ligtas ang kanilang mga mahal nila sa buhay.
Kasama ng walong Pinoy seafarers, ang 12 Indian crew members na hinuli ng Royal Malaysian Police sa Kota Tinggi Police District Headquarters sa Johor , Malaysia noong April 11 dahil sa kawalan ng pasaporte at mga kaukulang dokumento.
“Upon learning of the arrest, MWO-OWWA Malaysia immediately coordinated with Kota Tinggi police authorities to ensure the welfare and well-being of the seafarers, and communicated with the concerned Licensed Manning Agency (LMA) and principal for their cooperation during the police investigation,” ayon sa DMW.
“The LMA, meanwhile, of the 8 Filipino seafarers assured the continued payment of salaries and benefits to the seafarers and their families,” dagdag nito
Bibigyan din ng kaukulang tulong ang mga Pinoy seafarers sa pamamagitan ng AKSYON Fund, pati na ang comprehensive support system na may kasamang financial aid, legal assistance, medical assistance, at iba pa.—FRJ, GMA Integrated News
