At just 19 years old, Valentova is already one of the Czech Republic's rising tennis stars, ranking ninth among 10 Czech players currently inside the WTA Top 100 at No. 85.

She trails compatriots Karolina Muchova (No. 7), Linda Noskova (No. 8), Marie Bouzkova (No. 23), Nikola Bartunkova (No. 29), Sara Bejlek (No. 33), Katerina Siniakova (No. 47), Barbora Krejcikova (No. 48), and Karolina Pliskova (No. 51).

Alex Eala takes on Tereza Valentova

Alexandra 'Alex' Eala will look to settle some unfinished business against Tereza Valentova when the Filipina and the Czech clash for the third time in their careers in the Hong Kong Open second round.

Although Eala enjoys a higher WTA ranking at No. 17 compared to Valentova's No. 85, the Czech holds the edge in their head-to-head record against the Filipina star.

Valentova has beaten Eala twice in as many meetings.

The Czech star first edged Eala in the 2025 Kinoshita Group Japan Open with a 6-1, 6-2 win before pulling off a 7-6(6), 6-1 victory in their 2026 Qatar Open clash.

More than avenging these previous losses, Eala is just hoping to get past Valentova and book a spot in the quarterfinals as she seeks to end her season on a high note.
