Alex Eala, Venus Williams receive Canadian Open doubles wild card

Alexandra "Alex" Eala will once again team up with tennis legend Venus Williams after the pair received a wild card entry into the doubles draw of the Canadian Open (National Bank Open).

The tournament announced the wild card recipients on Tuesday (Wednesday, Philippine time), with Eala and Williams set to begin their campaign on Thursday night (local time).

They will face the tandem of Miyu Kato and Liudmila Samsonova in the opening round.

Eala and Williams previously partnered at the Bad Homburg Open, where they reached the quarterfinals.

The two were also expected to play together at the recent DC Open, but Williams instead teamed up with Diana Shnaider.

Eala will also compete in the singles event of the Canadian Open. She opens her campaign on Wednesday (Thursday, Philippine time) against Alycia Parks in the Round of 64 after receiving a first-round bye.
