Hindi ihaharap ang dating senador na si Antonio Trillanes IV bilang witness sa impeachment trial ni Vice President Sara Duterte, sabi ng House prosecution panel nitong Huwebes.

Ito ang ipinahayag ni House lead prosecutor Gerville Luistro ng Batangas sa ika-32 araw ng paglilitis sa impeachment, na sinasabing pinal na ang desisyon ng panel.

"The prosecution has finally decided not to present former senator Sonny Trillanes. We seek the kind indulgence of the honorable impeachment court for the belated final position on this particular concern," sabi ni Luistro.

Hindi niya agad binanggit ang espesipikong dahilan sa likod ng desisyon.

Nauna nang sinabi ni Senator-judge Raffy Tulfo na dapat munang iharap si Trillanes bilang saksi sa harap ni Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) Executive Director Ronel Buenaventura, dahil sa mga naunang paratang ni Trillanes kaugnay ng mga bank account ng pamilyang Duterte.

Isa si Trillanes, sa mga masugid na kritiko ng mga Duterte, na bumisita na sa impeachment court noong nakaraang Martes.

Ilang oras bago ang manipestasyon, sinabi ni Luistro sa mga reporter na wala pang iskedyul kung kailan haharap si Trillanes bilang saksi sa paglilitis.

"No definite schedule yet," sabi ni Luistro.

Tinanggihan ni Senate impeachment court presiding officer Francis "Chiz" Escudero ang kahilingan na mag-isyu ng subpoena kay Trillanes.

Samantala, inaasahang dadalo sa paglilitis ngayong linggo si Ronel Buenaventura, executive director ng Anti-Money Laundering Council.

Sinabi ni Luistro na maaaring "lengthy" ang mga talakayan tungkol sa mga rekord ng AMLC.

"We are expecting a lot of interjections coming from the senator judges, that is addition to the cross examination," sabi niya. — Jamil Santos/RSJ GMA News
