Ipinagpaliban ang nakatakdang pagdinig sa kumpirmasyon ng mga kaso laban kay dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa International Criminal Court (ICC) sa Setyembre 23, 2025, ayon sa anunsyo ng korte nitong Lunes.

Sa pahayag ng ICC, sinabi ng Pre-Trial Chamber I na ang pagpapaliban sa pagdinig ay kasunod ng hiling ng kampo ni Duterte dahil “not fit to stand trial” umano ang dating pangulo.

“Following a request from the Defence of Mr Duterte for an indefinite adjournment of the proceedings alleging that Mr Duterte is not fit to stand trial, the majority of the Chamber considered that a limited postponement of the hearing on the confirmation of charges was warranted to allow sufficient time to adjudicate the request and related matters,” saad sa pahayag ng ICC.

“The Chamber will, if applicable, set a specific date once it has addressed such outstanding matters,” dagdag nito.

Bumoto pabor sa postponement sina Presiding Judge Iulia Motoc at Judge Reine Alapini-Gansou, habang hindi sumang-ayon si Judge María del Socorro Flores Liera.

Kasalukuyang nakadetine si Duterte sa Hague Penitentiary Institution o Scheveningen Prison at nahaharap sa mga kasong crimes against humanity kaugnay ng kaniyang madugong “war on drugs.”

Batay sa opisyal na datos ng pamahalaan, mahigit 6,000 drug suspects ang napatay sa mga operasyon ng pulisya. Ngunit ayon sa mga human rights groups, maaaring umabot sa 30,000 ang kabuuang bilang ng mga namatay, kasama ang mga hindi naitala.

Nagsumite na ang ICC Prosecutor ng nasa 12 batches ng ebidensiya. Habang mahigit 300 kaanak ng drug war victims ang nagpahayag ng kahandaan na makibahagi sa paglilitis.

“The purpose of the confirmation of charges hearing is to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to establish substantial grounds to believe that the person committed each of the crimes charged,” ayon sa ICC.

“If one or more of the charges are confirmed, the case will be transferred to a Trial Chamber, which will conduct the subsequent phase of the proceedings: the trial,” dagdag nito –FRJ GMA Integrated News
