Matapos ang dalawang buwan na power rate hike, inanunsiyo ng Manila Electric Company (Meralco) nitong Miyerkules na magkakaroon ng rollback sa presyo ng kuryente sa Mayo dahil sa refund na iniutos ng Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).
Ang nasa P7.8 bilyong refund ay mula sa sobrang koleksiyon ng Meralco noong July 2011 hanggang June 2015.
Ayon sa Meralco, ang overall rate sa karaniwang bahay ay bababa ng 12 sentimos o P10.0630 per kilowatt-hour (/kWh) mula sa P10.1830/kWh noong Abril.
Nangangahulugan ito ng nasa P24 na tapyas sa total bill ng residential customers na kumukonsumo ng 200 kWh, P36 sa mga kumokonsumo ng 300 kWh, P48 sa 400 kWh consumption, at P60 na tapyas sa komukonsumo ng 500 kWh.
Ayon sa Meralco, ang tapyas para sa refund ay makikita sa separate line item sa power bills.
“As a highly regulated entity, Meralco’s rates are constantly being reviewed to make sure they are fair and reasonable,” ani Atty. Jose Ronald Valles, head ng Regulatory Management ng Meralco.
“The immediate implementation of the ERC’s order more than offset the impact of the increase of the generation charge this month, benefitting Meralco customers,” dagdag niya. -- FRJ, GMA News
