Iniulat ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) na nasa 200 automated counting machines (ACMs) ang nagkaaberya at pinalitan ngayong araw ng Eleksyon 2025, Lunes, May 12, ayon kay poll chief George Erwin Garcia.

“Mayroon tayong more or less 200 machines na kinakailangan palitan. Hindi naman huminto pero napapansin namin nakaka-dalawang beses nag-reject,” Garcia told reporters.

“Kaagad nagdesisyon ang aming operations center na i-pull out ang machines at palitan ito ng bago para hindi maging worse pa,” dagdag niya.

Kabilang sa mga lugar na nagkaroon ng ACMs na nagkaaberya ay sa Cebu, partikular sa Lahug Elementary School na may limang ACMs ang pumalya at kaagad na tinugunan umano ang problema.

Nagkaroon din ng technical issues sa ilang ACMs sa GB Lontok Memorial Integrated School sa Lipa City, Batangas, na nakaapekto sa unang mga oras ng botohan pero naayos din.

“16,000 ang contingency natin. In fact nung 2022, umaga pa lang 2,500 na makina na ang pinapalitan. Of course, mga lumang makina 'yan. Ang sa amin preventive measure, kahit 'di pa sira ang makina pero nagpapakita na ng indication, pinu-pull out na agad,” ayon kay Garcia.

Una rito, iniulat ng Legal Network for Truthful Elections (LENTE) ang pagkakaroon ng mga technical issues sa ilang ACMs sa iba't ibang bahagi ng bansa.

“The most common problem involved sensitive scanners that frequently rejected ballots. In these instances, the Electoral Board had to temporarily pause operations to clean the scanner, resulting in delays and long queues,” ayon sa LENTE.

Isang presinto sa Zamboanga del Sur, nagkaroon din abenrya sa ACM dakong 5:30 a.m. at inabot ng 6:56 a.m.

“Voters were allowed to fill out their ballots but were informed that their ballots would be temporarily set aside and fed into the ACM once operational,” ayon sa LENTE .

Nagkaroon din ng problema sa ACMs sa ilang voting centers sa Ilocos Sur, Cagayan, Negros Oriental, Bohol, Aklan, at Lanao Del Norte.

Sa presinto ng Santa Cruz, Laguna, isang Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail ang nagkaaberya at niresolba rin ng electoral board.

“While most voting centers where LENTE monitors were deployed began preparations on time, technical and procedural issues must be addressed swiftly to avoid disenfranchisement and reinforce public trust in the electoral process,” ayon sa LENTE. — mula sa ulat ni Sundy Locus/FRJ, GMA Integrated News
