No show ang walo sa 15 kontratista na inimbitahan ng Senate blue ribbon committee na dumalo sa pagdinig ngayong Martes kaugnay ng umano’y anomalya sa mga flood control project sa bansa. Dahil dito, iniutos ng komite na padalhan na ng subpoena ang mga hindi sumipot para obligahin silang dumalo sa susunod na pagdinig.

Sa pagdinig nitong Martes, naghain ng mosyon si Senador Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa na padalhan ng subpoena ang mga kontratista na wala sa naturang pagdinig. Ilan sa kanila ang nagpadala lang ng sulat para ipaliwanag kung bakit sila makadadalo.

Ayon kay Senate blue ribbon oversight office management director general Atty. Rodolfo Noel Quimbo, sa 15 kontratista na inimbitahan sa pagdinig, 11 lang ang sumagot sa imbitasyon, at pito lang ang nagpadala ng kinatawan sa pagdinig kanina.

“Seven out of 15 are represented today in this hearing? And they just simply replied but did not send representatives? I just hope this is not a sign of disinterest on their part because this meeting is called precisely to get to the bottom of this problem,” ayon Senador Rodante Marcoleta, pinuno ng komite.

Sinabi naman ni Sen. Erwin Tulfo, na vice chairperson ng komite, na dapat magkaroon ng magandang paliwanag ang mga kontratista kung bakit hindi sila sumipot sa pagdinig.

“Para hong ginagago itong committee natin—na may sakit nagbakasyon na may mga prior schedule. Ano mas importante—prior schedule o itong imbestigasyon na ‘to? Because P544 billion ang pinag-uusapan natin, not a small change, Mr. Chair,” giit ni Tulfo.

Inaprubahan naman ni Marcoleta ang mosyon ni Dela Rosa na i- subpoena ang mga kontratista, matapos na walang kasapi ng komite na nagpahayag ng pagtutol.

Una rito, sinabi ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. na 20% sa kabuuang P545 bilyon na pondo sa flood control projects ang napunta lang sa 15 contractors. Lima sa naturang 15 kontratista ang may proyekto sa halos buong bansa.

Sa pagdinig ng komite kanina, ang mga nagpadala lang ng kinatawan ay ang Legacy Construction Corporation, QM Builders, EGB Construction Corporation, Triple 8 Construction & Supply, Inc., MG Samidan Construction, Road Edge Trading & Development Services, at ang Centerways Construction and Development Inc.

Ang Centerways Construction and Development Inc., ang tinukoy ni Senate President Francis Escudero na pinamumunuan ng kaniyang kaibigan at campaign contributor na si Lawrence Lubiano.

Sa opening speech ni Marcoleta, sinabi ng senador na nag-ugat ang problema sa flood control projects dahil sa “rampant corruption entangled within the core of our government.”
