Humingi ng paumanhin si Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III sa pamahalaan ng Dubai dahil sa pagsabi niya sa mga mamamahayag na coronavirus ang dahilan ng pagpanaw ng isang Pinay OFW doon.
Sa isang pahayag nitong Biyernes, nilinaw din ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), na hindi novel coronavirus ang ikinamatay ng OFW na si Amalia Collado Daproza.
"Based on a belated report received by the office of Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III from the Philippine Labor Office in Dubai, results of confirmatory tests conducted by the Pathology and Genetics Department of the Dubai Health Authority on Daproza’s specimen yielded negative of the novel corona virus," ayon sa pahayag.
"Secretary Bello nonetheless wishes to apologize to the government of Dubai for the confusion and whatever anxiety that the announcement may have caused," dagdag nito.
Nitong Huwebes, inanunsyo ni Bello na isang OFW ang pumanaw sa Dubai dahil sa "coronavirus" batay umano sa paunang impormasyon na natanggap ng kaniyang opisina.
Pero hindi sinabi ng kalihim kung ito ay novel coronavirus o iba pang uri ng coronavirus.
Pero sa isang Facebook post nitong Huwebes ng hapon, sinabi ng Dubai Government Media Office, na lumitaw sa pagsusuri sa nasawing OFW na hindi nito taglay ang virus.
"The Dubai government media office denied the validity of the statements by the Philippine minister of labor regarding the death of a Filipino woman in Dubai due to the new corona virus," ayon sa post.
"The deceased was suffering from respiratory infection and laboratory tests showed she did not have the virus," dagdag nito. — FRJ, GMA News
