Nag-alok ang Blas F. Ople Policy Center ng legal at livelihood assistance sa kasambahay na minaltrato umano ng amo niyang Philippine Ambassador to Brazil na si Marichu Mauro.
Ayon sa Blas F. Ople Policy Center, isang non-profit organization na tumutulong sa mga overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) na biktima ng exploitation at human trafficking, maaaring makipag-ugnayan ang kasambahay ni Mauro sa kanilang case handler na si Jenny Sespene sa mobile number 09618114288 o magpadala ng mensahe sa Facebook ni Susan Ople: www.facebook.com/susan.ople.
“We just want her to know that our organization is willing to help her get through this, legally and even financially, because we know how difficult it is to be caught in a situation wherein you need to defend yourself against a person of authority, which in this case is no less than a Philippine ambassador,” ayon kay Ople, namamahala sa policy center.
Dagdag pa ni Ople na dating labor undersecretary at anak ng namayapang dating senador na si Blas Ople, desisyon ng inagrabyadong manggagawa kung itutuloy niya o hindi ang reklamo, laban sa mapang-abusong amo.
Napag-alaman na nakauwi na sa bansa ang kasambahay ni Mauro na nakita sa video na sinasaktan ng kaniyang among diplomat.
Pinauwi na rin ng Department of Foreign Affairs si Mauro para isailalim sa imbestigasyon dahil sa lumabas na insidente na naging laman ng mga balita rin sa Brazil.
Ayon sa Ople Center, isang domestic worker sa Kuwait ang tinulungan din nila na nakaranas ng sexual harassment sa kamay ng isang incumbent ambassador.
“Under the previous administration, that administrative case dragged on for more than two years. We hope and pray that this does not happen under the Duterte Administration considering how vocal Foreign Affairs Secretary Locsin is when it comes to migrant workers’ rights,” sabi ni Ople.
Magiging mahirap naman umano kay Ambassador Mauro na pasinungalingan ang alegasyon matapos makita ang insidente sa video at maibalita pa sa Brazil.
“The question remains: had that video not come out in the news, how much longer would the domestic worker have suffered? And in the middle of a global pandemic where the entire department has been working tirelessly and at great risk to their lives to repatriate thousands of OFWs, how could the ambassador even think of harming her own staff?” sabi ni Ople.
Kapwa hindi pa nagbibigay ng pahayag sina Mauro at ang kasambahay tungkol sa insidente.
