Inihayag ng isang opisyal ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) na hindi inuobliga ang mga overseas Filipino worker na patungong Singapore na magpaturok ng COVID-19 vaccine para makapasok sa nabanggit na bansa.
Ayon kay Labor Attaché in Singapore Saul De Vries, nagpapatupad ng mahigpit na quarantine protocols ang pamahalaan ng Singapore pero hindi kasama sa kanilang rekisito ang pagiging bakunado sa mga paparating na OFW.
"It is not a condition for OFWs to be inoculated before departing for their jobs. However, the Singapore government require them to undergo a 21-day institutional quarantine and take RT-PCR test thrice," ayon sa pahayag ng opisyal.
Sa ngayon, sinuspinde ng Singapore ang entry approval applications ng mga dayuhang manggagawa na mula sa tinatawag na "high-risk" countries.
"Hopefully, such regulation of policy will be reviewed this coming July when cases of COVID-19 infection have slowed down," ani De Vries.
Tinatayang nasa 200,000 ang Filipino na nasa Singapore, na mayorya ay professionals, skilled workers, household service workers, healthcare workers, at mga kawani sa tourism and information technology industries.
Kamakailan lang, inaprubahan ng Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) sa Singapore ang mahigit 200 job order para sa vaccinators, na may buwanang sahod na aabot sa 1,800 hanggang 2,000 Singaporean dollars o katumbas ng P63,000.
Bagaman hindi inuobliga ng Singapore ang mga OFW na magpabakuna, sinabi ni De Vries na mas makabubuti pa rin na magpaturok ng COVID-19 vaccine ang mga Pinoy.
"I believe that most, if not all, of our OFWs in the healthcare industry have already been vaccinated, since they are included in the priority group listing," paliwanag niya.— FRJ, GMA News
