Inihayag ni dating Defense Secretary Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. nitong Lunes na handa siyang maging running mate ni Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte kung magpapasya ang huli na tumakbong pangulo sa 2022 elections.
Sa panayam sa telebisyon, sinabi ni Teodoro na hindi pa nakapagdedesisyon si Duterte kung tatakbo ito sa pangulong halalan.
“My impression of Mayor Sara talking about issues was that she will make a very good president of this country," ani Teodoro.
"She would have the ability to unite a lot of people. She has an independent mind, she has managerial skills running a very complex city like Davao. She’s familiar with national issues,” patuloy niya.
Ayon pa sa dating opisyal, handa siyang suportahan si Duterte kung magpasya itong tumakbo sa posisyon na babakantehin ng ama ng alkalde na si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
"And to show that I’m willing to back her up, I’ll gladly be her vice president if she so decides,” ani Teodoro, na tumakbong presidential candidate noong 2010 elections bilang kandidato ng Lakas-CMD.
Nitong nakaraang linggo nang lumipad patungong Davao City si Teodoro para makausap ang alkalde.
Kasama ni Teodoro sa naturang biyahe si dating Camarines Sur Representative Rolando Andaya Jr., na nagsabing dream team niya sa halalan ang tambalang Sara-Gibo.
Sa pagpunta niya sa Davao City, nagpaturok din ng COVID-19 vaccine si Teodoro.
Pero nilinaw ni Teodoro na nagkataon lamang ang pagbabakuna niya sa naturang lungsod.
“There was an opportunity to show that I trust the local health authorities and it was my way of showing all local government units, all health workers that I will trust them,” anang dating kalihim. “I could have signed up with private companies for other vaccines.”
Sinabi ni Teodoro na kabilang siya sa priority group A3 o persons with comorbidities.
“She [Duterte] offered that we can get A3 vaccines,” saad niya. “As a public service I did it.”
Inihayag naman ng Department of Health na wala silang nakikitang masama kung magpaturok ng COVID-19 vaccine ang isang tao sa isang lugar na hindi siya residente.— FRJ, GMA News
