Si Senador Ping Lacson ang nais ni Senate President Tito Sotto na maging katambal sa 2022 elections.
"If Sen. Lacson decides to run for president, I will definitely be his running mate," ani Sotto sa mga mamamahayag.
"I am not in the habit of saying that I will not run and then all of a sudden I will file my certificate of candidacy. Let the other politicians do that. Not in our party," dagdag niya.
Ayon pa kay Sotto, may mga grupo nang lumalapit sa kanila ni Lacson para alamin ang kanilang plano sa darating na eleksyon.
"We are seriously contemplating on it... There are some groups and some sectors that have approached me and Sen. Lacson. If Sen. Lacson decides to run for president, I will definitely be his running mate," deklara ni Sotto, kasapi ng Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC).
Maaari umano niyang ihayag ang kaniyang pinal na desisyon pagkatapos ng State of the Nation Address ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa susunod na buwan.
Lacson, nag-iisip pa
Sinabi naman ni Lacson na pinag-iisipan pa niya kung tatakbo siyang pangulo sa 2022.
"As for my decision, and this much I told him — I’m still processing and as I have already stated repeatedly, pag-aaralan muna naming dalawa ang mga mabibigat na problema ng bansa at mga possible solutions," paliwanag ng senador.
Kinukonsulta umano nila ni Sotto ang ilang economic experts at mga tao na umano'y, "knowledgeable about the other facets of governance that have to do with foreign policy, national security, etc."
"So if and when we decide, we know all the issues and how to deal with the same," paliwanag niya.
"The problems of this country cannot be solved by Tiktok, photo-ops and lip service. It is more than serious business," dagdag niya.
Ayon kay Lacson, plano ni Sotto na tumakbong bise presidente at tututukan nito ang problema sa ilegal na droga.
"Gusto niyang pagtulungan namin kasi pareho naming pangunahing advocacy ang peace and order at paglaban sa korapsyon," ani Lacson.
"Totoo ring kabisado niya ako sa pagka-seryoso na labanan ang korapsyon. Hindi minsan kaming tumutol na dalawa, even nagpasauli ng lobby money para sa pagpasa ng prangkisa na pinadala ng isang congressman sa Senate office niya," dagdag niya.— FRJ, GMA News
