Idineklara ng Senate impeachment court nitong Miyerkoles si Atty. Michael Poa bilang hostile witness sa impeachment trial ni Vice President Sara Duterte.
Ginawa ni Francis “Chiz” Escudero, presiding officer ng Senate impeachment court, ang ruling sa ika-21 araw ng paglilitis nitong Miyerkoles.
“The chair will proceed to declare Atty. Poa as a hostile witness therefore giving Atty. Tolosa the right to ask leading questions but again as a reminder, not to ask misleading questions,” sabi ni Escudero.
Pinangangasiwaan ni Atty. Benjamin Tolosa Jr., prosecution counsel and spokesperson, ang direct examination sa Poa, na naging isa sa mga opisyal ni Duterte.
“Number one, he’s one of the Vice President’s most trusted men,” sabi ni Tolosa, na nagdetalye ng mga dating posisyon ni Poa sa Department of Education (DepEd) at Office of the Vice President (OVP).
“Number two, he answered for P112.5 million he knew absolutely nothing about,” dagdag niya.
Tumestigo si Poa para sa Article 1 ng kasong impeachment, na nag-aakusa sa Bise Presidente ng paggawa ng impeachable offenses dahil sa sistematiko umanong maling paggamit at hindi regular na pag-liquidate ng confidential funds na nagkakahalaga ng P500 milyon, na inilabas sa OVP at P112.5 milyon naman sa DepEd.
Idinagdag pa ni Tolosa na pinili umano ni Duterte si Poa bilang “the man who knew nothing” para sumagot sa mga state auditor.
“Siya ang inatasan ng Bise Presidenteng sumagot sa COA. Hindi ang SDO (special disbursing officer), hindi ang nag-disburse ng pera, hindi ang tumanggap ng pera. Ang abogadong walang alam,” sabi niya.
Pero tinutulan ito ni Defense lead counsel Sheila Sison, na sinabing “sound really just rhetoric aimed to provide drama in this proceeding” ang mga paratang ni Tolosa.
Kalaunan, nagpasya si Escudero na tanggalin sa rekord ang linyang "abogadong walang alam" mula sa testimonya ni Tolosa kasunod ng pagtutol ni Sison. – Giselle Ombay/Jamil Santos/FRJ GMA News
