Inatasan ng Department of Health (DOH) ang Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) na paigtingin ang quarantine protocols sa mga dumarating sa bansa mula sa China dahil na rin sa pagdami ng COVID-19 cases doon.

“To strengthen its existing measures, the DOH directed the BOQ to intensify quarantine protocols such as heightened surveillance on all respiratory symptoms in all travelers and conveyances coming from China,” saad ng DOH sa ipinadalang mensahe sa mga mamamahayag nitong Biyernes.

Ayon sa DOH, dapat suriing mabuti ng BOQ ang Maritime Declaration of Health at sa Aircraft General Declaration.

Ang mga pasahero na positibo sa virus at mga symptomatic ay kailangan umanong iulat pagdating nila sa bansa.

Inihayag ito ng DOH nang tanungin kung mayroon bang scientific basis para isailalim sa testing ang mga manggagaling sa China, sa harap ng COVID-19 surge doon, na iminungkahi ni Pangulong Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

Ayon sa DOH, pag-uusapan ng Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) ang panuntunan sa border control sa mga taong magmumula sa China.

“The IATF will discuss on the guidelines on how to deal with the COVID-19 resurgence in China, including our border control for Chinese travelers to the country, for recommendation and approval of the President,” ayon sa DOH.

Ayon pa sa DOH, sa kasalukuyan, ang mga foreign traveler na hindi fully vaccinated laban sa COVID-19 ay kailang magpakita ng negative pre-departure antigen o RT-PCR test results, bago bumiyahe o pagdating sa bansa.

Nauna nang nagdeklara ang United States, Italy, Japan, India at Malaysia, ng mas mahigpit na pagbabantay sa mga manggagaling sa China dahil sa tumataas na kaso doon ng COVID-19.

"The lack of transparent data from China — particularly about viral genomic sequencing — is making it "increasingly difficult for public health officials to ensure that they will be able to identify any potential new variants and take prompt measures to reduce the spread," ayon sa pahayag ng US officials noong Martes.

Inihayag ng India at Japan na magpapatupad sila ng mandatory PCR testing sa mga pasaherong manggagaling sa China. —with AFP/FRJ, GMA Integrated News
