Nakapili na umano si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ng magiging bagong pinuno ng Philippine National Police (PNP), ayon sa Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) ngayong Lunes.
Gayunman, tumanggi si DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla na ihayag kung sino ito dahil mismong si Marcos umano ang mag-a-anunsyo.
“Meron na siyang napili. Excellent, very qualified, very dynamic, good track record,” ayon kay Remulla sa ambush interview.
Sa press briefing, sinabi ni Remulla na magiging bentahe kung may mahabang termino ang susunod na PNP chief para maipatupad ang mga nais niyang reporma sa kapulisan.
“Ang nangyayari kasi sa atin, a tenure of a chief PNP will only last one year, a little more than one year. Kailangan natin merong continuing vision na may buy-in ng lahat ng PNP as the years go by,” paliwanag niya.
“Ngayon kasi paiba-iba. Every year iba ang directive, vision, mission statement. My goal is that isa na lang. No matter who the Chief PNP is,” dagdag pa ng kalihim.
Sa June 7 matatapos ang termino ni PNP chief Police General Rommel Marbil, na panalawig ni Marcos ng apat na buwan noong Pebrero dahil sa paghahanda sa nakaraang eleksyon.
Una rito, sinabi ni PNP public information office chief Police Colonel Randulf Tuaño ang mga kuwalipikadong maging susunod na PNP chief na sina:
- Lieutenant General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., ang deputy chief for administration ng PNP;
- Lieutenant General Robert Rodriguez, ang deputy chief for operations ng PNP;
- Lieutenant General Edgar Alan Okubo, chief of the directorial staff ng PNP;
- Police Major General Nicolas Torre III, chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group; at
