Kukuwestiyunin sa tamang forum ng kampo ni Leyte Representative Martin Romualdez ang pagpapalabas ng Sandiganbayan ng Precautionary Hold Departure Order (PHDO) laban sa dating Speaker, ayon sa kaniyang abogado.

Sa isang pahayag na inilabas nitong Huwebes ni Atty. Ade Fajardo, tagapagsalita at abogado ni Romualdez, sinabi niyang gagamitin ng kampo nila ang “all appropriate legal remedies to question the issuance of this order before the proper forum.”

Iginiit pa ni Fajardo na nasa bansa pa rin ang dating lider ng Kamara de Representantes.

"We categorically clarify: Rep. Romualdez is in the Philippines and has not left the country. Any report or insinuation that he has fled is false and irresponsible," anang abogado ni Romualdez.

Pinaninindigan din ng kampo ni Romualdez, na handang harapin ng mambabatas ang mga ibinabatong alegasyon laban sa kaniya.

Iniimbestigahan si Romualdez kaugnay ng alegasyon ng katiwalian, money laundering, at iba pang may kaugnayan sa kontrobersiyal na alokasyon sa flood control projects.

“Rep. Romualdez followed the proper process. He sought and secured the necessary travel authority, and coordinated in good faith with the Department of Justice and the Bureau of Immigration for a brief, long-overdue four-day medical check-up with his attending physician in Singapore,” sabi ni Fajardo.

"This is fully consistent with his conduct from the very beginning—one of cooperation, transparency, and respect for legal processes. Unfortunately, this legitimate act has been twisted to create a prejudicial narrative that he intended to flee," dagdag pa niya.

Sinabi ng abogado ni Romualdez nitong Miyerkoles na inaasahan ng kanilang kampo na masusunod ang tamang proseso matapos ang isang reklamo na isinampa laban sa kaniya para sa pandarambong umano at money laundering, bukod sa iba pang mga kaso.

Sinabi ni Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla nitong linggo na tinanggihan niya ang kahilingan ni Romualdez na bumiyahe papuntang Singapore noong Abril 21 para sa isang long overdue na medical check-up.-- Llanesca T. Panti/Jamil Santos/FRJ GMA News
