"It just comes naturally for me when it comes to food. Ang maipagmamalaki ko na, even though I haven't been in culinary for that long compared to other chefs... even though I may not have a lot of experiences in the culinary world, I think there is something very special about my sense of taste and smell. I just have a different kind of palate," saad ni Donita sa press conference ng ikalawang season ng "Heart Mate Kitchen" nitong Miyerkules.
That's what happens to me when I think of food. Ini-imagine ko siya what would it look like, what would it taste like, and I'm very embarrassed to say that I have a very refined palate," kuwento ng aktres.
"Ever since I was young, napakaarte ko sa pagkain. I would not eat food just because I'm hungry. If I don't enjoy, if it's not pleasurable to me I will not eat it. So I'm very, very hard to please when it comes to food but that's the good thing. Because if I'm going to make a recipe, you will love every single one of these recipes, I promise you," saad niya.
For example si Rocco Nacino is very health-conscious, so I [made] a fish dish for him," anang aktres.
"I think the things that you need to factor in is a well-balanced meal. You want your carbs which is energy, then you have your protein and of course your veggies which have the micro-nutrients in that. And I try to make sure that everyday is something different for my son. Within a week, meron siyang chicken, fish, pork, beef, and a lot of veggies," saad niya.
"Its high smoke point. Ibig sabihin no'n, if you use the wrong kind of oil when you're cooking and you start to see it smoking, carcinogenic na siya, ibig sabihin, cancerous. So you want to make sure that in your cooking or when you're going to ingest the food, you're using the proper oil to get also the best nutritional benefits. So aside from it being versatile, its high smoke point, therefore it is best used for baking and frying," ayon kay Donita.
"As of right now, I think it's hard for me because I don't have that much to invest into a restaurant and then when you do, you have to put your heart and soul to focus on that. I kind of like what I'm doing right now. I have time to spend with my kid at home, and I also get to do cooking and hosting, so I like the variety. And if some day I'm able to save up money to have my own restaurant, definitely that will be something I'd love to do," ayon kay Donita.
"I have had offers from people who would like to invest, but takot akong mag-invest... with other people's money, medyo nakakatakot 'yung ganu'n," dagdag ng aktres.-- FRJ, GMA News
