Isang higanteng talon o "claw" ang ipadadala sa labas ng mundo para linisin ang space junk at tugunan ang lumalalang problema ng basura sa kalawakan.
Sa Next Now ng GMA News, sinabi ng U.S. Federal Communications Commission na malaki ang problema sa basura sa loob at labas ng mundo.
Sa 10,000 mga satellite na inilunsad mula 1957, kalahati ang hindi na gumagana at naging space junk, kaya palutang-lutang na ang mga ito sa orbit ng Earth na maaaring bumangga sa mga satellite o space station.
Dahil dito, misyon ng ClearSpace system na magpadala ng higanteng talon o claw sa kalawakan at alisin ang mga debris na nasa orbit ng mundo.
"[This] as far as we know, will be the first removal of a real piece of debris from orbit. We are going to get this two-meter large old launch adapter and then attach, grab onto them, give them a big hug with our robotic capabilities and them pull them down out of the way and let them safely burn up in the atmosphere," sabi ni Rory Holmes ng ClearSpace UK.
Plano na ilunsad ang CLEAR mission sa taong 2025 hanggang 2026.
Bukod dito, gusto rin ng ClearSpace na isulong ang sustainability sa orbit at bumuo ng teknolohiya para hindi maging basura ang mga satellite at iba pang gamit sa space activities.
