Nakarating na at mabibili sa ilang tindahan sa Rome, Italy ang mga mangga na galing sa Pilipinas.
Sa pagtutulungan ng Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Italy (PCCI) at Philippine Embassy sa Rome sa pangunguna ni H.E. Ambassador Nathaniel Imperial at Agricultural Attaché Josyline Javelosa, nakarating at mabibili na ngayon ang unang commercial export ng Philippine mangoes sa ilang Filipino store sa Rome.
Nitong nakaraang Lunes, ipinagdiwang ng mga opisyal at miyembro ng PCCI, kasama sina Ambassador Imperial at Agricultural Attaché Javelosa, ang opisyal na pagbebenta ng mangga sa Pinoy Saver’s Mart Battistini, isa sa mga official distributor ng naturang prutas na mula sa Pilipinas.
Umaabot umano sa halos kalahating tonelada ang unang shipment ng mga mangga, at inaasahang magtutuloy-tuloy ito.
“This is only the beginning of a broad effort to lessen our country’s wide trade deficit with Italy. We aim to export more fresh agricultural produce and processed foods to Italy where there is a growing market for Philippine-sourced food products,” ayon kay Ambassador Imperial.
Nakiisa rin sa naturang event ang mga kinatawan mula sa Artigiani Imprenditori d’Italia (CNA) at nagpahayag ng suporta para sa mas malakas na agricultural trade ties ng Pilipinas at Italya.
Umaasa si Dennis Carrascoso, chairman ng PCCI Italy, na hindi lang sa Italya makikilala ang Pinoy products kung hindi sa buong Europe.
“This project is the fruit of teamwork. With the financial support coordinated by Benford Fortuna of Sarap Restaurant and the documentation handled by Jocelyn Tupino of Pacific Cargo, we were able to turn this dream into reality,” ayon kay Carrascoso.
“On behalf of PCCI, we are truly grateful to the Philippine Embassy and to all our fellow Filipinos who supported — and continue to support — this initiative. This is just the beginning,” dagdag niya.
