24 na Pinoy, isinabay ng Singapore sa paglikas ng kanilang mga kababayan mula sa Middle East

Sa gitna ng patuloy ang kaguluhan sa Middle East, tinulungan ng Singapore ang 24 na Pilipino para makaalis mula sa Gulf region, ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) nitong Biyernes.

Pinayagan ang mga Pinoy na sumakay sa Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) A330 Multi-Role Transport Tanker (MRTT), na ipinadala ng Singapore sa Middle East upang ilikas ang 81 nitong mamamayan mula sa Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

"The DFA conveys its sincere appreciation to the Government of Singapore for this benevolent act, which exemplifies the ASEAN spirit of solidarity," saad sa pahayag ng DFA.

Kasama ang Pilipinas at Singapore sa 11 bansang kasapi ng Association of South East Asian Nations.

Ayon sa mga opisyal ng Pilipinas, hindi sila makakuha ng mga outbound flight mula Jeddah dahil sa limitadong biyahe ng mga eroplano dulot ng nagpapatuloy na kaguluhan sa Middle East sanhi ng labanan ng pinagsanib na puwersa ng Amerika at Israel, kontra sa Iran.

Bukod sa mga Pilipino, kasama rin sa mga inilikas ng Singapore gamit ang parehong eroplano ang mga mamamayan ng Australia, Brunei, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, at Vietnam, ayon kay Singapore Ambassador Constance See sa panayam ng GMA News Online.

"This is in the spirit of solidarity, just as how other countries have assisted Singaporeans in returning home in past crises," ayon kay See.

Umalis ang eroplano sa King Abdulaziz International Airport sa Jeddah dakong 4:00 p.m. noong March 12. Dumating ito sa Singapore dakong 6:00 a.m. kanina, March 13.

Inalalayan ng Philippine Embassy sa Singapore ang mga Pinoy para sa kanilang biyahe pauwi ng Pilipinas, ayon sa DFA.

"This was very much a partnership. We worked in close coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, to facilitate the Filipinos who joined the flight," sabi ni See.

"The Philippine government, through the DFA and its missions, has been mounting complex repatriation efforts to bring Filipinos home safely. Our flight complements those efforts," dagdag niya. — Michaela Del Callar/FRJ GMA Integrated News
