Inihayag ng Research Institute for Tropical Medicine na negatibo sa COVID-19 si ACT-CIS party-list Representative Eric Go Yap, taliwas sa ibinigay nilang impormasyon sa kongresista. Ang Malacañang, nanawagan sa RITM na tiyakin na tama ang inilalabas na resulta ng pagsusuri.
"We wish to publicly apologize to Hon. Erick Go Yap for forwarding a report of his COVID-19 results that displayed a clerical oversight," saad sa pahayag ng RITM nitong Biyernes.
Bago lumabas ang resulta ng pagsusuri, dumalo pa sa pagtitipon sa Palasyo at special session sa Kamara de Representantes si Yap.
Dahil sa positibo ang unang inilabas na impormasyon tungkol sa COVID-test ni Yap, pinag-self-quarantine ang mga miyembro ng Gabinete at iba pang opisyal na kaniyang nakasalamuha.
Inihayag din ang Presidential Security Group na pinag-aaralan nilang kasuhan si Yap dahil sa pagsuway sa COVID-19 protocol sa pagpasok sa Palasyo.
Si Yap ang chairman o pinuno ng makapangyarihang House Committee on Appropriations.
"His results are by no means a false positive. This isolated incident was brought about by an encoding error which was discovered late last night by the Molecular Biology Laboratory of the DOH-RITM," anang RITM.
Sa kabila ng nangyari, nanindigan ang RITM na sumusunod sila sa pamantayan ng World Health Organization.
"The polymerase chain reaction testing procedure still stands as the gold standard in detecting the genetic sequence of the SARS-CoV-2--the virus that causes COVID-19," paliwanag ng RITM.
"The individual responsible for the incidence was enlisted as an augmentation staff from outside the regular workforce of the laboratory. Said employee is already being dealt with administratively," dagdag nito.
Ayon kay Yap, hindi naging madali ang nakalipas na dalawang araw para sa kaniya nang sabihing positibo siya sa COVID-19.
Umani rin ng mga batikos ang mambabatas dahil sa pagpunta niya sa Malacanang at pagdalo sa sesyon kahit may hinihintay siyang COVID-19 test.
"Hindi naging madali ito pero buong puso kong tinatanggap ang apology ng DOH-RITM. No less than Dr. Carlos called me up to explain what happened. Naiintindihan ko, they are the busiest medical facility in the country right now," sabi ni Yap sa pahayag.
"Its not an excuse pero normal na nagkakaroon ng pagkakamali sa dami at sa pressure na tinatanggap ng RITM ngayon... This is just a clerical error and should not be taken against RITM," dagdag niya.
Sinabi naman ng Malacañang na dapat tiyakin ng RITM na tama ang ilalabas nilang resulta para hindi mangamba at mabahala ang mga nakakasalamuha ng taong lalabas na positibo sa virus.
“We appeal to the RITM to be more certain of the test results before releasing them to the patients or their doctors to avoid such unfortunate incident,” sabi ni Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo, na ikinatuwa na negatibo ang tunay na resulta kay Yap.-- FRJ, GMA News
