Inaprubahan ng Kamara de Representantes ngayong Lunes ang rekomendasyon ng House Ethics Committee na suspendihin si Cavite 4th District Rep. Kiko Barzaga ng 60 araw, dahil sa pagiging guilty sa disorderly behavior kaugnay ng umano’y hindi kanais-nais na mga post niya sa social media na naging laman ng reklamong inihain laban sa kaniya.

Sa isinagawng botohan sa plenaryo, 241 na kongresista ang bumoto pabor sa rekomendasyon ng Ethics committee, lima lang ang tumutol, at 11 ang hindi bumoto.

Ayon kay House Ethics Committee chairperson 4Ps party-list Rep. JC Abalos, wala ring tatanggaping sahod si Barzaga sa panahon na suspendido siya.

“His actions reflected negatively upon the dignity, integrity, and reputation of the House of Representatives as an institution of the members of the House individually and collectively. Consequently, the committee finds respondent, Rep. Kiko Barzaga of the 4th district of Cavite guilty of disorderly behavior by violating Sec. 141 (a) Rule 20 of the Rules of House of Representatives, 4(c) of RA 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees,” saad ni Abalos.

Kasama rin sa kautusan ng komite na mas mabigat na parusa ang kakaharapin ni Barzaga kapag inulit ang kaniyang ginawa.

Dapat din umanong alisin ni Barzaga ang mga post nito sa social media na naging paksa ng reklamo sa loob ng 24 oras matapos na aprubahan ang rekomendasyon.

Ayon kay Barzaga, na nasa plenaryo nang ihayag ang rekomendasyon ng komite, na tanggap niya ang anumang parusa sa kaniya.

“I wholeheartedly accept the decision of the committee, but I maintain my stance that President Marcos must be held accountable for his crimes. Too many people have died, and too much money was plundered from the Filipino people for us to stand down now,” giit ng kongresista.

“Whatever punishment may fall upon me and others who stand against this president, who has lost his constitutional mandate of serving the people is inconsequential in relation to the number of lives and futures that will be saved once President Marcos leaves the Malacañang,” dagdag niya.

Bago nito, inakusahan si Barzaga ng paglabag sa Code of Conduct para sa mga opisyal at kawani ng pamahalaan dahil sa mga post sa kaniyang Facebook page na umano’y hindi nararapat, nagpapakita ng kawalan ng respeto sa ilang opisyal ng gobyerno, at tila naghihikayat na sunugin ang kapulungan.

Sa unang pagdinig ng komite tungkol sa reklamo laban sa kaniya, hindi dumalo si Barzaga, na nagsabing abala umano siya sa paglalaro ng video games noong gabi bago ang hearing. – Vince Angelo Ferreras/FRJ GMA Integrated News
