Nababala ang Philippine Embassy sa Washington laban sa kumakalat na maling impormasyon sa social media na naghihigpit o ipinagbabawal umano ng United States ang dual citizens at green card holders.
Sa inilabas na abiso, inihayag ng embahada na hindi nagbabago ang patakaran ng US government tungkol sa dual citizenship o lawful permanent resident travel rights.
"Please do not make legal decisions, such as renouncing your Philippine citizenship, based on social media content. Renunciation of Philippine citizenship is a serious, irreversible legal action," babala ng embahada.
Ayon sa embahada, nagdulot ng pag-aalala sa Filipino communities sa US ang ilang posts na lumabas sa social media na nagsasaad ng pagbabago umano sa US immigration at green card policies.
"We urge the Filipino community to verify information through official government sources, avoid sharing unverified content, and report false information to the platform where it is published," paalala ng embahada.
"For questions, please contact the Philippine embassy or your nearest Philippine consulate," dagdag nito.
